Baker Woods

As part of the 400-acre Baker Woods Forest Preserve, the Kendall County Forest Preserve District acquired a private residence and horse facility. Upland Design’s master plan guided the conversion of the private estate to a public equestrian facility. Plans outlined phasing of site improvements after working with the Owner’s staff to determine priority items. This resulted in an inviting public entrance, new banquet facility and maintenance areas being part of the phase I development. Phase II included a trail system and creek crossing that allowed for access to the entire site prior to its farmland being transitioned into prairie.

Following Owner approval of the master plan, Upland Design prepared construction documents and assisted with bidding and construction observation. The implementation of improvements, allows the site to be used as a public equestrian center and a rentable event space. District residents now use the facility for receptions, business meetings and equestrian lessons.
