Located along the Fox River, the Village of Carpentersville owns and manages a collection of parks within the Village limits. The parks range from a small pocket park, to riverfront parks and community parks which needed a guide to increase recreational opportunities for the Village residents while making the most of the Village’s resources. Connections were also needed to nearby Park District facilities and regional trail systems along the Fox River and across the community.
Upland Design led the analysis and planning process to develop a comprehensive master plan for the Village. All sites were reviewed and regional proximity maps were developed to better understand the what was needed. Upland Design led several discussion and planning sessions with community members, Park Board and Village staff to discuss goals, needs, budgets as well as opportunities and challenges facing the Community. Existing site facility conditions were analyzed and locations were compared with proximity to similar amenities nearby.
The final product, a 50 page planning guide, includes proximity maps, site profiles, level of service analysis, facility needs analysis and potential funding and grant sources for future improvements. The plan provides a useful budgeting and management tool for the Village as well important support documentation for future grants.
