Hoover Fishing Pier

Hoover Forest Preserve, a former Boy Scout campground, was purchased by the Kendall County Forest Preserve District with the intention of making it an accessible public camp ground, an outdoor education center, and a major link along the regional multi-use Fox River Trail. Upland assisted the Forest Preserve in creating a peaceful space that seamlessly blended accessible recreation with the natural environment. With over 50’ of grade change from the parking lot to the Fox River overlook, ADA design was a big part of the project.

Project components include:

  • Four Group Camp Sites – all accessible
  • 20-single camp sites – 2 accessible
  • 70-car Parking Lot with Bio-Swales
  • 1- mile trail along the Fox River
  • Fishing Deck at the Fox River
  • Overlook Deck
  • Woodland Classroom Area
  • Site Way- Finding Signage
  • Stormwater Management with Native Plantings
