Fox Valley Park District undertook a major renovation of this 30-year-old community park as part of a district wide improvement plan. At the project start, the park only offered walking trails to the community. The Park District welcomed community input at public meetings and brought in Upland Design to implement the master plan by providing construction documents, assistance with bidding, permitting and construction observation.
Design development included creating green solutions to improve the 20-acre, on-stream detention lake within the park. A permeable parking lot and rain gardens provided some of the stormwater solutions for this site. Additionally, the project brought amenities to the lake to create more recreational opportunities including fishing and boating by providing an overlook fishing pier, a floating boat dock and a small boat launch.
The park also offers a new boat themed playground with community shelter and restroom facilities along a walking loop through the park. Native prairie plantings provide an inviting backdrop for the park with interpretive signage to provide learning opportunities for the park.
Sport facilities were also included in the plan including half court basketball and soccer fields for the communities use.[rev_slider Spring_lake]
