Hydrosystems Laboratory Expansion and Renovation

The University of Illinois is undertaking the renovation and expansion of the Civil Engineering Hydrosystems Laboratory which will include a pedestrian bridge to the Newmark Civil Engineering Building.  Upland Design Ltd is assisting the Reifsteck Reid & Company Architecture team with design of a pedestrian plaza, connections between the Hydrosystems and Newmark buildings with at grade pedestrian paths, landscape improvements and site furniture.

An important exterior element is the connection of the engineering quad with the Main Street corridor where both pedestrians and vehicles need easy access. The new plans take this connection along with pedestrian comfort into account for a welcoming transition between spaces.  Shown here are the images of the exterior improvements designed by Upland Design and prepared for presentation to the University.
