Glencoe Park District

The Glencoe Park District undertook an ambitious initiative to update both its 10-Year Master Plan and 5-Year Strategic Plan concurrently. By aligning these two efforts, the District created a unified vision and actionable roadmap to guide future decision-making, investments, and community services. The resulting plans establish clear goals, priorities, and implementation strategies that align park facilities, programming, and resources with the evolving needs of the Glencoe community.

Upland Design’s Role
Upland Design served as a key member of a multidisciplinary team led by 110%, contributing expertise in park system analysis and planning. Upland conducted system-wide park assessments, GIS mapping, and a Level of Service evaluation across all District properties, helping identify opportunities for improvements and long-term investment.

The team developed data-driven recommendations addressing recreation programming, maintenance and development priorities, and sustainability initiatives. Community engagement played an important role in shaping the plan, with public open houses and stakeholder outreach informing future goals. The study also included specialized analyses such as an Active Harmer assessment and a detailed review of the District’s beach along Lake Michigan to ensure these unique assets continue to serve residents for years to come.
