New Artificial Turf
West Chatham Park is getting new multi-purpose artificial turf fields with the planning help of Upland Design. Permeable gravel is being placed at the new fields by Albry Construction this week. Mayor Rahm Emanuel along with Michael Kelly of the Chicago Park District, and Forrest Claypool of Chicago Public Schools led the ground breaking with an enthusiastic group of neighbors, students, teachers, and coaches all cheering on the project. The sports fields include layouts for football, soccer, and baseball with a walking loop around the outside which ties into existing walks at the park. The project will open for play in 2018.
